Answers to the questions people ask most.
How do I add to-dos?
On a computer or iPad, click the + in the header (or the button on an empty page) and type. Enter saves and opens the next line, so you can type a whole list; Esc cancels. Hover a to-do to get a small + beneath it and insert a line right there.
On a phone, use the + in the bottom-right corner.
How do I edit, schedule or delete a to-do?
Click a to-do's text to rename it. For everything else (done, when, due date, tag, assign, move, delete):
- on a computer, right-click it;
- on a phone or iPad, tap the empty part of its row, long-press it, or swipe it to the left.
How do I share a project or area?
Right-click the project or area in the sidebar (long-press on a phone or iPad) and choose Share. Invite people by email or copy the invite link. Everyone with access can add and edit to-dos, and you can assign to-dos to them.
Does it sync between my devices?
Yes. Sign in with the same account everywhere; changes appear on your other devices within a few seconds. If a change can't be saved you'll see “Couldn't save that change” and the app reloads the latest version.
How do I install it on my phone or computer?
- iPhone and iPad: open Papertray in Safari, tap Share, then Add to Home Screen.
- Android: open it in Chrome, open the menu, then Install app.
- Mac: in Safari choose File → Add to Dock; in Chrome use the install icon in the address bar.
I forgot my password
On the sign-in page, tap Forgot password? and enter your email. The link in that email lets you choose a new password and takes you straight back in. Check your spam folder if it doesn't arrive within a few minutes.
What does Papertray record about how I use it?
To improve the app, Papertray records each visit: when it started, how long the app was open, and the kind of device (app or browser, system, screen size, time zone and language). It also sends error reports when something breaks. It never sends the text of your to-dos.
You can turn this off in Settings → Privacy.
